We are aware of several copies of the Cengar CL50 / CL75 air hacksaw, one (not so cheap) copy is made in the USA and there are a few cheaper tools coming out of Taiwan / China.
Be careful when considering these tools. They are all based on quite old versions of the Cengar saws. Back up service and parts can be limited. They have much higher vibration and noise levels, and they are not ATEX approved.
Vibration Levels
It is very important to know these levels because there are international standards on how long you can safely use tools, depending on the vibration levels. Long exposure to high vibration can cause a permant injury called "white finger" which is currently the leading type of compensation claim in the UK. According to European regulations the Cengar CL50 and CL75 can be used for 4 hours & 53 minutes, non stop in a day before reaching the action level (EAV) of 2.5m/s2. It can be used for over 19 hours per day before reaching the limit level (ELS) of 5.0 m/s2. How long can you use the copies before haveing to take a rest??? What are their vibration levels??
ATEX Approvals
None of the copies currently have ATEX approvals for use in hazardous areas. If you have to cut in an area where there are explosive gases present, the ATEX approval (which is marked on the tool) gives you peace of mind that the tool has been tested to international standards and has a temperature rating which covers the temperature of the tool as well as the blabe and the material that you are cutting.
